ABSENCES

If your daughter is going to be away on planned leave during term time, please let us know in writing at least two weeks prior by emailing attendance@mariancollege.school.nz. Please include your daughter's name, the dates of the absence, and the reason for the absence.

Once your leave request has been assessed, we will confirm to you in writing whether your leave request will be recorded as 'justified' or 'unjustified'.

Holidays during term time are discouraged, and are considered an unjustified absence. For unjustified absences, there is no requirement for teachers to provide work to the student in their absence or to provide extra tuition to the student on their return. Teachers are not able to give extensions or alternative deadlines for assessments.

MEDICATIONS

The school office holds a supply of paracetamol and ibuprofen tablets which students can purchase for 50c per tablet. Students are welcome to carry their own personal supply if they wish.

We also hold a small amount of anthistamine tablets which may be purchased for $1 per tablet which we will only dispense in certain circumstances after seeking parent approval. If your daughter suffers from hay fever or is a regular user of antihistamines, please ensure they have their own supply available or that they take them at home before coming to school.

We do not supply cough and cold medicine, strepsils and the like. If your daughter is sick with symptoms that can be passed on, please keep her at home.

If your daughter uses an athma inhaler or an epipen, please ensure that she has this available on her at all times.

We are happy to hold medications in the school office on behalf of your daughter if you need us to (short or long term)
