Recently, thirteen of our Year 12 and 13 students spent the day at Te Pae along with students from a selection of other secondary schools learning what it takes to be an 'Inspiring Young Explorer'. Keynote speakers included Lisa Blair - the first woman to sail solo around Antarctica and holder of eight world records, and William Pike - founder of the William Pike Challenge.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed a series of interactive workshops which focused on how curiosity, resilience, leadership, teamwork, and innovation are vital to growing confidence when stepping out of your comfort zone. Presenters were all past Antarctic Heritage Trust Inspiring Explorers and many of their stories left a lasting impression of what it means to be in a challenging situation. It was a wonderful day of enthusiastic participation, making connections with other fellow students, and sowing the seed for future adventures.
