The School - Philosophy

Mission statement

“The College’s intent is to educate
the whole person within our
Catholic school community.”

Our mission is to give every girl at Marian a challenging, sound and enjoyable Catholic education within an environment that is friendly, happy and liberating.

The school guidelines are based on the following philosophy:
 to do one’s best
 to be courteous
 to respect others
 to respect oneself

Respect for others includes:
 their good name
 their feelings
 their way of doing things
 their property
 their ambitions
 their beliefs
 Respect for yourself includes:
 the way you dress
 the way you conduct yourself
 the way you work
 the way you accept advice
 keeping your commitments
the way you enter into the life of the school

The maximum roll set by the Integration Agreement is currently 430 with preference of enrolment given to Catholic girls. This number, though small for an urban secondary school, is ideal, allowing us to offer a wide range of subjects at each year level while maintaining a caring, happy and safe environment and giving individual attention to each girl. Although we are a school for girls we have a cultural relationship with our brother school, St Bede’s, and we share facilities and resources in the senior school with Shirley Boys’ High School.
